How can civil engagement be substantiated? A case study of the Lords Zhou and Wang Memorial Study Hall

Abstract

This article discusses the historical background of the establishment of the Lords Zhou and Wang Memorial Study Hall in 1684 and their potential connections between preservation and civic engagement. This paper also aims to highlight some traditional norms and values embodied in the study hall and explains the reason of their notable significance. Overall, the study hall serves as an ideal place to teach history and to engage students toward understanding the meaningful interactions between history and our contemporary world.
