The “Cold War” between Ho Ping Ti and Academia Sinica. The changing political identity of the Overseas Chinese
Abstract
This article is based on the unpublished documentary, which searched for reasons to explain the depression between Prof Ho Ping Ti and Academia Sinica during 1967–1990. The answer was found among the overseas Chinese citizens who expected a strong regime to protect the motherland. Thus, Ho and most overseas Chinese people shifted their allegiance from the Chinese Taipei to the Chinese Mainland.
